Office abnormal crash Microsoft has fixed

Recently, my PowerPoint keeps crashing. Even after asking a technician to reinstall it, the issue persists, so I had to resort to using WPS. Today, I came across this article:

The content is as follows:

Recently, if you are using Office, you may encounter abnormal crashes in Outlook, Word, or OneNote. Microsoft has confirmed this issue after investigation. Crashes may occur when users input content, perform spell checks, or execute other operations.

The root cause of the problem lies in the outdated local language pack of Office. This issue mainly affects Office version 2407, internal version number 17830.20138, or higher. To confirm if you are affected by this issue, you can check the Event Viewer.

Check method:

Search for Event Viewer in the Windows 10/11 taskbar search box and open it.

Check if there are event IDs 1000 or 1001 in the Application and Service Logs.

Error codes corresponding to events 1000/1001 include 0x66aaad8c/0x5e439ea1/0xc0000005.

Taking Outlook error logs as an example, the log will display:

Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE Version: 16.0.17830.20138 Timestamp: 0x66aaad8c

Faulting module name: mscss7it.dll Version: 16.0.12527.20122 Timestamp: 0x5e439ea1 Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x000000000003e518

Process ID: 0x0x51B0

Faulting application start time: 0x0x1DAE97DD89190C3

To solve this problem is also very simple. Microsoft states that the main reason for the crashes is the outdated language pack. Updating the language pack can resolve the issue, and updating the language pack only requires repair or reinstallation.

Here are the operation methods:

Method 1: Open Control Panel, Programs and Features, find the Office you installed, right-click on Office, choose Change, and then select Online Repair (must be connected to the internet).

Method 2: Uninstall the existing version of Office and reinstall it using the Office online installer. Reinstalling can also solve the problem.

Currently, the Microsoft 365 team is working on a solution. Subsequently, they may push Office updates through Windows updates to resolve this issue. Users affected by the issue can try to perform repairs.
